Features

Live TV, made from what you already have.

Loppy works on its own, straight to your media server: no account, no set-up beyond signing in. Here’s what’s on the TV today, and what’s coming to loppy.tv.

Local mode

Straight to your media server.

The app talks to Plex, Jellyfin or Emby on its own. Plex works today; Jellyfin and Emby are next.

Channels made for you

Every genre with ten or more films, your collections and playlists, shows with twenty or more episodes, and what’s just been added to each library.

Numbers that stay put

Genres from 1, collections from 200, playlists from 400, big shows from 500 and new arrivals from 900, so a channel keeps its number.

Always something on

Every channel runs a schedule all day. Shuffled channels reshuffle each time round, so nothing comes back in the same order.

A guide that’s there at once

Loppy keeps an index of your library on the TV, so the guide opens straight away and keeps up with what you add.

Plays straight from the server

No copies and nothing in between. A file your TV can’t decode is played through your server’s own transcoder instead.

Signing in by code

With Plex, the TV shows a short code and you enter it on your phone, so your password never touches the TV.

Layouts

Four ways to see what’s on.

The tabs at the top of the screen switch between them, and Loppy remembers your choice.

Compact rows shorten the guide to one line per programme, and the channel list to one line per channel, so more channels fit on the screen. Plus

Watching

Live, but on your terms.

  • Pause and rewind live TV. Play carries on from the same point, and Back takes you to live again.
  • Start a later programme now, from its beginning, then the channel carries on from there.
  • The mini-guide browses other channels without stopping what’s playing.
  • Start on the last channel: open the app straight into what you were watching, live.
  • The quick menu switches layout, favourites and settings from anywhere.

Favourites

Your channels first.

Hold OK on any channel to star it. Starred channels come first in every layout, in the mini-guide and when you change channel. Once two are starred, a Favourites tab appears, and Favourites only hides the rest.

Settings: the four layouts, the looks, and the options Favourites only, Compact and Start on last channel.
Settings Favourites only, Compact rows and Start on last channel sit beside the layouts and looks.
